The quality of weed and hash in Barcelona can sometimes equal that of California, as it is possible to find top shelf quality in more than one place. The difference is the price, its about half of what you will have to pay in other pot havens like Amsterdam. Find a good ”private club” and you can get a large gram (1g – 1.4g) for 8 EUR and a double (2g -2.8g) for 15 EUR. On the black market, the right person will offer you even higher prices, with just one kind of quality product much worse than the ones offered in the private smokers clubs. It’s better to avoid street deals, because like Forest Gump’s mom used to say, Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re gonna get. Your best and safest shot, if you don’t know anyone in town, contact and you will get sorted out ASAP.
Legal (Private areas only, illegal in public areas (decriminalized), offenders receive an administrative fine.) Possession of more than 70/100gr. (depending on the autonomous community) is considered as possession with the intention of trafficking.[177]
Limited cannabis-derived pharmaceuticals
Legal (Only for own consumption. If the plants are located somewhere visible from the street/public place, it is an administrative offense[178])
Drug use and possession for personal use do not constitute a criminal offense under Spanish law. However, public consumption can be penalized with administrative fines. Public possession of less than two ounces of cannabis is not a criminal offense, although heavy administrative fines can be levied (from 330Euros up to 600Euros). Possession of more than two ounces, growing for sale, or selling are considered criminal offenses, but prison terms are not as severe as those levied in the US. There’s some public places where it might not be legal to smoke, but most people do it. Like the beach, some of the parks, and many places with good views like Montjuic or Parc Guell. Although, we strongly recommend people always smoke in their own private place or in a private cannabis club in order to avoid fines and uncomfortable situations with police.
